It’s All Academic
Well, over the last few weeks all my work has all been about our academic members.
After launching our new professional accreditation process for our academic members, I am delighted to say we have had a great response rate. We have accredited several leading academics throughout the country which is very exciting news!
I understand that a few of our local branches have been very excited over this news too and have organised events to recognise their first academic professional accredited members. If you would like to see the pictures for these branch events, check out our HRINZ Facebook page or to find out more information about academic accreditation please click here.
The HRINZ Research Forum being held in November (18th) is taking great shape, and by the number of abstracts that we have received there seems to be a strong theme of “understanding the New Zealand workforce”. However, the Research Forum theme is still being finalised but the topic of diversity within the NZ workforce, I think will make for some interesting sessions and discussions.
The more I learn about the HRINZ Research Forum the more I am looking forward to attending this unique experience. One of its aims is to encourage meaningful discussions from both academics and practitioners to find out what research needs are perceived to be required for HRM. So watch this space for further details, or visit our website for Research Forum details
On another newsworthy note, HRINZ has recently appointed a new Education Endorsement Programme (EEP) Manager, Dr Stephen Dakin, FHRINZ.
I had the pleasure to meet Stephen and I am really looking forward to working with him. Stephen has worked both as a practitioner and academic which is perfect for this role.
Stephen’s role of EEP Manager will be to work closely with the Academic Branch to ‘bridge the gap’ between the tertiary institutions and the HR profession; by improving and building the quality of education and start building awareness of EEP by increasing the number of endorsements in place. Click here for more information for our EEP Programme.
To coin a famous phrase, “that’s all folks”, as I have to get back to testing our new online grading system for our Academic Grading Panel to use. Like I said at the beginning for me – it’s all academic.
